Steering Committee, including the delegation of 5 member companies.
At the opening remarks, Prof. Hirano mentioned that the year of 2013 will be a milestone to have an interim assessment of the PARC project, and as he expected, as a general director of this committee and also as a member of Council for Science and Technology Policy, there was a brisk discussion between the university and industry members for the further progress of the PARC project.
In conclusion, the committee decided to put emphasis on the following points for the future PARC activities:
1) PARC and the 5 member companies are going to develop joint researches based on Nano-photonics, especially on Plasmonics, as well as further researches of the fundamental Photonics technologies. By seeking the seeds of Nano-photonics core technologies, it is expected to develop and prototype new research products, and create new industries.
2) As for the current activities such as entrepreneurship improvement for Photonics researchers and innovating research products, PARC is going to support these continually.
3) Furthermore, PARC puts a call out for new members from Photonics SME and ventures to fulfill the role as a Photonics Advanced Research Center.
