A planet made up of silver nanoparticles”
A photo of self-assembled silver nanoparticles with no editing. This photo was taken with my iPhone 6 through the eyepiece of a dark-field microscope. Silver nanoparticles were chemically synthesized on a glass substrate and then dried naturally, resulting in a formation of the self-assembly. The prepared substrate was placed under white light illumination and the scattered light from the nanoparticles was detected. The particles show different colors because the color depends on the size and shape of the plasmonic nanoparticles. There was a “silver planet” in the microscopic world.
